Things You Need to Know

American Samoa is a U.S. Territory, located 2600 miles southwest of Honolulu, in the South Pacific Ocean. It is the only U.S. Territory located south of the equator. It is not be be confused with the Independent Nation of Samoa a.k.a "Western Samoa", and sometimes just "Samoa", located just 70 miles West of us.

Pago Pago is located on the island of Tutuila (too-too-EE-lah), the main island that makes up the territory. A smaller island, Aunu'u, is located just off the East coast of Tutuila. The Manu'a Islands (Ofu [Oh-foo], Olosega [Oh-lo-sang-ah], and Ta'u [tah-ooh]) are located about 70 miles East of Tutuila.

When making references to TV shows, keep in mind that American Samoa has CBS and NBC programming on a 1-week tape delay from Honolulu. Any reference to something that happened "last night" on Jay Leno, would be premature here. There is no ABC, UPN or WB programming at all. We also get movies a month or so behind the mainland. (You can check the movie listings at the local theatre via the link on our website). HBO, ABC-Family and various other cable channels are also on a 1-week tape delay. We do get some live programming, like CNN/Asia, The BBC World News, and occasionally some Fox News Channel feeds. Below is a complete list of channels that we get here:
